In the case of the latter every effort was made to correctly cite the source of each public photograph.
The various lists of top travel sites (100 Must See American Sites, 100 Must See Christian Sites, etc.) are based solely on the research and opinions of Howard Kramer. Although a subjective process, the author made every effort to incorporate those places that are most truly representative of their category (see methodology). No compensation, monetary or otherwise, was accepted in exchange for inclusion.
The Complete Pilgrim makes every effort to provide up-to-date visitor information for each place discussed on its website. However, The Complete Pilgrim makes no warranties or guaranties of any sort as to opening times, cost of admission, closures, directions or any other visitor information, and strongly recommends visitors verify all travel details independently.
Similarly, The Complete Pilgrim makes no warranties or guaranties of accessibility or safety to any site, and strongly recommends visitors investigate traveler safety on websites such as the U.S. Department of State (http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/alertswarnings).
Methodology
The process of selecting the various sites of interest was highly subjective, and many hundreds of places were considered for each category. In order to narrow down the choices, the following were taken into consideration:
1) Is the site already a widely recognized pilgrimage destination, with a substantial number of annual visitors
2) Is the site directly associated with the Bible
3) Was the site critical as a religious center
4) Is anybody buried at the site who played a critical or famous role in history
5) Is there an artifact or document of great religious importance associated with or located at the site
6) Was the site the location of an important or devastating event
The Complete Pilgrim reserves the right to review these lists and make changes at any time.
