May 16, 2015 By Howard Kramer Leave a Comment

Canada Wood Buffalo National Park is a magnificent wildlife reserve that despite its immense size stands somewhat in the shadow of more famous parks further south in Alberta.  However, it boasts some animal species that are not easily found elsewhere, notably its large herd of Wood Buffalo, one of the rarest and most threatened of Bison species. KOREAN DMZ

May 15, 2015 By Howard Kramer Leave a Comment

South Korea The Korean Peninsula possesses one of most unusual, and arguably the most unintentional, wildlife reserve of all time: the famous Demilitarized Zone, or DMZ for short.  Created in the armistice that suspended the Korean War, this strip of frontier land between the north and south has been effectively devoid of people since the early 1950s.  As a result, it became a … [Read more...]

BASILICA OF ST. DENIS

Last month, I visited one of the most fascinating churches I have ever been to, the almost completely ignored Basilica of St. Denis in the northern suburbs of Paris.  Almost every French monarch is buried here, and almost nobody goes here.  Here are some pics I took:
